Replacement Parts

Have you ever had a small part break on a tool or appliance and can't find a replacement part anywhere? You don't want to replace the whole thing for just one little piece.

The Broken Mini-fridge
Mini-fridge Pin in Use

I bought a mini-fridge as a freshman in college. Within a month, one of the little pins that supported the freezer door shattered. I could not find a replacement part anywhere. As a college student, I couldn't come up with the money to replace the fridge even if I wanted to. I ended up with a hacky repair using a cluster of toothpicks jammed into place.

Years later, the toothpicks fell out again for the umpteenth time, and I thought about my 3D printer. I took some measurements of the unbroken pin from the other side of the door. After a little design and a quick print run, I had a replacement pin. The mini-fridge has never been better. Unlike the toothpick hack, this solution is just right.

We can do the same for you. Think about some missing part or broken piece that you have worked around. Do you have something held together with a rubber band or twist tie, because a clip broke? How about something that's held in place with a bit of wood jammed in to hold it? You've looked around and can't find a replacement anywhere. It's about a half-inch long and shaped like an L but fatter on one end... With a bit of design help, we may be able to replace that part.

Idea for Something New

Have you ever had an idea for some physical item, that you can't find anywhere? Maybe it's something small or simple and you can't believe no one has made it. We can help your idea become reality.

Stirring Ink
Ink Stirrer in Use

My wife does calligraphy and mixes her own inks. One day I noticed that she was taking a long time stirring a little container of ink with a toothpick. I asked if there was any way to make the stirring easier.

She said the toothpick was the right size, but it would stir better if there were some kind of little wings on the sides. After a trying out different wing styles and handles for holding the stirrer, we had a version she liked.

When people in her calligraphy group saw them, we realized that we actually had a product people might buy. We sell those same stirrers on this site.

When I was young, my grandfather and father made small parts by whittling them out of scrap wood. Most of us don't have the skill or tools to do that today, but we still need these little items. If you can't buy something anywhere, we can help you make it.
